Friends!!!!

This weekend I got to see two of my best friends Abbi and Katie!!!! I left on Friday to drive to rice and spend the night in Abbis dorm room. I met so many people it was really hard keeping names straight haha. We went to some party's on campus which was an experience in its self. I don't regret it at all by I know now partying is not really my thing haha. The next day day we went to the zoo with one of her friends Aj who was really nice and funny! We had a great time looking at all the animals! Soon after I left to head home and on Sunday I got to hangout with Katie and hear about her life at UT. It was really great seeing these girlys again and I can't wait for homecoming to see all of my best friends again!!!!

Not all fun and games

College is hard y'all!!!!!

This past week an a half has been nuts!!! Filled with papers and studying for Exams the library had become my second home. The biggest blessing this week has been that my history professor allowed us to us a index full of as much information as you can put on it during the test. I was able to fit my entire 35 question review plus notes on the essay portion on that little 3x5 card haha. As for my other exams I have to study the old fashion way. The next couple of days are just as busy I have a math exam, CJ exam, prepare for another in class essay in history, and I have to work on my TX Gov journal!!!!

It's a lot more than high school but I'm still enjoying the whole college experience!

Time and Patience

I just finished my second week of college and I am looking on all the different social networking sites watching my friends make new friends so quickly, and Ill be honest the closest I have come to making friends so far is exchanging a few words with some different people in my classes. Don't get me wrong i'm totally happy for my friends but it kinda sucks going from having this great social life to being a party of one all the time haha. But I have to remember my situation is a little bit different to all of my friends. They go to University's and live in dorms where the are constantly around a ton of people so it a lot easier to meet people. I go to a community college where people generally go to class then go home or go to work, people keep to them self's and it almost rare to see a  group of people any where. Now I am a very awkward and shy person who is almost more comfortable being by myself then try and talk to new people so this making friends thing is already hard enough, but i'm working on that haha. But I also don't want my friends who read this to feel sorry for me or worry about me I will be fine! It will just take a little more time and patience!

1st Day of College

I have successfully completed my first day of college!!!! This was today's schedule:

Math
Intro to Criminal Justice
Hour break
Texas Gov.
*repeat every Monday Wednesday and Friday

The number one most important thing about any first day including high school and college is you want to pick a really good seat (I prefer to sit somewhere on the second row) because the seat you chose will most likely be the chair you sit in  for the semester. Its all about timing, you don't want to get there to early and not know who might sit by you. But If you get there to late you are left with sitting by the weird guy with the BO problem. So I walk into my math class 15 mins early and to my surprise most of the class is already here and i'm left with only a few options on where to sit. There are a few chairs in the last row and nobody is sitting in the first, so I take a chance and be the first person in the front row. Which was kind awkward at first but more people came in and sat by me so it wasn't to bad.
One thing that was weird was seeing people I went to high school with walking around campus. Most of these people I never spoke to while in high school but there was some kind silent agreement saying yes we both recognize who the other person is but we only acknowledge each others presence with awkward eye contact. hahah
I am very excited about my Intro to CJ class (mostly because its a class about my major) because my professor is awesome!!! Hes really easy going and funny and some of the projects we are doing this semester are really cool, he has a ton of experience as both a lawyer and policemen so i'm really looking forward to learning more!
My Texas Gov class really surprised me, I was expecting some boring professor and a ton of long lectures but that's not what a I got at all! When I first walked into the classroom I saw a bunch of big comfortable chairs and couches and free coffee in the back corner. So I just assumed I was in the wrong room so I went up to the women making the coffee and asked if this was the correct room number for Texas Gov., turns out she was the professor and told me to take a seat. When class started she went on to explain that this was a special Tx Gov. class because its a very relaxed style of teaching and we would be focusing on the concept of fear and what part it plays in Tx politics ( which I thought was very interesting), She also said we would not be taking any standardized testing during the semester but instead answering free response questions and journaling about different topics. she asked the class if anybody knew that they were signing up for this kind of Gov. class turns out nobody did but she assured us this still gives us our credit haha. Next we all went around and introduced are self and said what we are majoring in and what scars us most about our government, which lead into great conversations and it showed how much the professor loved her job which made the overall experience enjoyable. Plus there was this really cute guy(one of the many) that sat across from me and apparently there will be a lot of team work activities... Im ok with that ;)
Overall I had a great first day and really think i'm going to enjoy college!!!!

The start of something new

Hi there! My name is Sarah (my friends call me Sar or Sare bear) and I live in Magnolia TX.  In just a few short days I will be starting college!!! I will be attending Lone Star Montgomery for the next two years then transfer to Sam Houston State University to major in Criminal justice. But for right now I'm Sarah the high school graduate but not yet college student waiting for August 26th.

You always hear people say that you'll never forget the summer before your first year of college. Well its true! This was by far the best summer break I have ever had for the simple reason being I got to spend so much time with my friends. I have a group of 10 awesome friends and we call are self's Big Dog Nation, most of us were in band in high school and that's how we meet and became such close friends. We have so much fun together we are all able to completely be are true self's around each other no matter how weird we can be haha.

This past week I said my goodbyes as I watched 5 of my friends head off for college to move to there dorm rooms. It was hard seeing them go but I know God has great things in store for these young men and women and I cant wait to see all the great things they will do!! The rest of the group will leave this weekend and it will be just as hard, but I know its not really goodbye its see you soon.
Then there was one...

Because I am attending a community college my first two years I will be living at home and I have had many mixed feelings about that... so I decided to make a pro vs con list to help sort out my feelings

 Pros
  • going to a community college saves a ton of money
  • Lone Star is one of the best community colleges in the state
  • My mom still cooks for me

Cons
  •  I don't get your averaged college experience
  • Don't get to decorate a dorm room
  • The feeling of being left behind
This year has been difficult watch my friends go through applying for colleges, then getting accepted then finally pack up and move away. But I have come to the conclusion yes I may still be living at home but no matter if I was moving into a dorm room right now I would still be away from my friends and starting a new part of my life. The only difference is I will be going through this change from the comforts of home. I will still meet new people, go on adventurers and, get a great education. I realize i'm not being left behind my friends are just moving forward and in my own way so am I, and I have no doubt my friends will always be there for me. also no one has the same "college experience" its different for each person and I plan on making the most of mine. Wish me luck!
